Just 4 years plus spare change before the USA became a country, George Frideric Handel saw the first performance of his brand new composition entitled, “Messiah”, on April 3rd, 1742.  In the ensuing 274 years, “Messiah” has become an international favorite and an annual holiday tradition.  People all over the world get together to learn this difficult repertoire, leave their egos behind, and raise their voices together in service of this elegant Baroque Masterpiece!

Rehearsal Schedule:

Aspen Choral Society goes back to work on Sunday, October 22th, 4 PM at the Music Room of the Basalt Middle School, 51 School St, Basalt, CO 81621. Our first meeting will involve some “ice breaker” games, pie and ice cream social, and vocal placement. This is a good chance for “seekers” to see what we are all about, bring their friends, and make some new friends. Please don’t miss this important introductory session. There is no audition to sing with ACS, but we place voices within sections for the best possible blend.

Sunday, October 29th is only for Sopranos and Tenors and will be essential for anybody who is learning the piece for the first time, or who needs a brush-up on the notes.  Folks who have attended for years are encouraged to attend and be leaders to the newer folks in their section.  4 to 6 PM

Sunday, November 5th is for Altos and Basses only and will follow the same format as the sectionals for the Sopranos and Tenors. 4 to 6 PM
